Do you have what it takes to lead? "Leading from the InsideOUT" shows how to... > Cultivate your character as a leader > Interact confidently with your constituents > Establish credibility to justify your role > Create enduring connections so others want to follow > Produce future leaders for your organization > Discover the fulfillment that comes from growing yourself as well as your organization. With clear maps, in-depth descriptions, stories of other leaders, and a conversational style, "Leading from the InsideOUT" shows you why you should expand yourself, what to work on, and how to become the leader that others will want to follow. "In Leading from the InsideOUT" you'll discover that leadership skills are necessary but not sufficient to equip you to lead in this twenty-first century of highly complex global enterprises. David Kolb identifies seven crucial capacities that you'll need to develop, possess, and draw from as you step forward to take charge. As a leader you need to balance two opposing forces at once: the expectations placed on you by others and the reality that you won't always know what to do because you never encountered the situations you now face. Can others trust you to guide them through the unknown? If you accept the title and the responsibility then you owe it to yourself to fulfill your destiny, and to your followers to provide them with an illuminated path. Autorenporträt
David M. Kolb is a teacher and coach. His focus is on enhancing interaction between people-especially for those in leadership. His diverse professional path has shaped his unique approach. In his early career he operated a residential construction company. He later earned his M.A. in clinical psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles. He transitioned from his counseling practice to the corporate world where his articulate and passionate approach reached thousands of leaders seeking to increase their management skills. He was Director of Training for Ridge Associates, a principal consultant with PPS International Ltd, and currently is President of Prism, an executive coaching group. Executives who are looking for excellence in the way they lead seek him out as coach and consultant. His clients span a range of industries including health care, technology, energy, and finance. He has also worked with educational and non-profit organizations. Even though he is most familiar with the people-side of the business, he helps clients balance their economic business necessities with the very real needs of the people actually performing the work. From his years of work with leaders, he noticed that even when leaders use their best skills they still aren't guaranteed long-term effectiveness. In response he developed the InsideOUT model so that new leaders, as well as veterans, would have a guide for developing the fundamental, and sustainable, capabilities for being a leader. One executive said, "David swims with us in our water. He gets inside our business with us." This is because he is dedicated to helping his clients find ways to remove the complexity in their relationships so trust and truth can become their reputation. He lives in Freeport, Maine, with his wife, Serena and their dog Demi. They love bicycle touring, paddling at their lakeside cottage, and sharing time with their families.
