David Steele, also known as Ranger Dave, is a retired forest ranger, born and raised in the North Carolina mountains and currently living near the coastal plains of the state. He not only has a passion for being in nature but also for writing. Ranger Dave began writing stories about his adventures in the forest service many years ago to share with his family and friends. He volunteers at a Christian camp called, The Refuge of Eastern North Carolina, where, since 2008, he teaches children about God's Creation, His Love, and His Son, Jesus, while hiking forest trails. Teaching children so they will have a better understanding is a gift of David's and he uses that gift in writing this book. He wanted to write an adventure/ghost story that isn't scary or disturbing; something children and young people would want to keep reading and enjoy. David uses many personal experiences in this story to help readers envision what it was like for many families to take a beach vacation in the early 1970s; without all the twists of course. Treasure of South Island Beach is David's first published book.
