Early life exposure to Pb altered the cholinergic, aminergic and antoxidant systems, associated with motor functions of developing and young rats. These impairments in motor functions and neurochemical parameters (cholinergic, aminergic and mitochondrial antioxidant enzymes) remain for long after Pb exposure has stopped. Supplementation with calcium reversed the Pb induced neurotoxicity by modifying the motor functions and restoring the specific enzyme activities and neurotransmitters.
