The authors discuss Central American migration to the country and DC region and the methods used to collect data; provide a brief recent history of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras to explain why people have migrated from this region to the United States; explore the motives for migration; recount the journey from Central America to the U.S. border; present data investigating how family reunification unfolds as well as data involving trauma, PTSD, and depression; delve into how migrant youth fare in schools; and suggest how country-, state-, and local-level policy can help or hinder youth integration and family reunification"--
