This book will speak to the audience who includes family members attempting to understand what this change means for their loved one; and those who want to be allies to transgender friends and family members. The included narratives aim to give voice to both sides of the experience: that of the Transman/Transwoman who is living through the difficulties and challenges of being both minority and transgender in America. The narratives also serve to give voice to those who are witnessing change second hand, as a relative, as a friend, as a spouse; but also as someone who wants to be an ally. Furthermore, this book will speak to my own experience as an ally, and my own journey in my understanding of what transgender means in the lives of others. The reading would be ideal for both undergraduate and graduate study in gender and social justice.
