Two gutting events occurred in my life. The first was on May 26, 2011, when my identical twin sister succumbed to a five-year unrelenting brain tumor and the second-a mere fourteen months later-was on September 24, 2012, when my son was enjoying nature while riding his sports bike. He had a tragic accident and died instantly at the young age of twenty-one. My world came to a screeching halt. Two people who meant everything to me were gone forever. Many well-intentioned people told me what I should be doing to get over this, but quite frankly, it wasn't until I came out of the fog that I realized that the only way I was going to survive the rest of my life was to try to channel my grief into something positive. To honor the memory of my sister and my son and to help our family and so many friends to heal, I decided to write this book about what you can do-not what you should do-when you lose a loved one.
