On her first day of school, she is embarrassed to learn that her first name is actually a common boy's name in the Igbo language. This incident prompts Emeka to ask her father why he gave her a boy's name. He tells her, "Your name is a precious thing, dear. Your name comes from one of your ancestors, and you are his dream come true."
