Privatization in the post communist world has caused a lot of controversy and heated debates. This process has occurred in different countries and led to different outcomes and degrees of success. What has happened and how it affected the whole developmental process of the post-communist world the author addresses in her book. To make the case of privatization applied the author looks in depth at Ukraine and Slovakia and makes a case of Steel Industry specifically. The two countries have both undergone similar processes, which at the end resulted in different outcomes, which does not support the arguments about path dependency and limit in the choices when it comes to privatization. The analysis should help to shed some light on the past and explain in detail the outcomes and strategy questions. This book should be especially useful to professionals in the privatization sphere and those specifically working in the metallurgy, as well as open to the broad audience interested in the differences WITHIN the post-communist world in general and the processes that have led to different developmental paths.
