Periodontal disease is heterogeneous in etiology, but a common hallmark is destruction of alveolar bone. Periodontal therapy is focused at disease prevention and arresting disease progression and regenerating lost periodontium. Open Flap Debridement (OFD) is the most conventional procedure used and has been shown to result in efficacious treatment modality of intrabony defects. Modern advancement has led to development of Titanium-prepared, platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) which is more effective in activating platelets and establishing a firmer fibrin carpet. This study was initiated to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of titanium-prepared platelet rich fibrin (T-PRF) in combination with open flap debridement and open flap debridement alone assessed by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in treatment of intrabony defects.
