A brake is a device by means of which artificial frictional resistance is applied to moving machine member, in order to stop the motion of a machine. Braking is a process which converts the kinetic energy of the vehicle into mechanical energy which must be dissipated in the form of heat. The disc brake is a device for deaccelerating or stopping the rotation of a wheel. Aircraft brake disc usually made of aluminium metal matrix composites or ceramic composites, is connected to the wheel. Friction material in the form of brake pads (mounted on a device called a brake caliper) is forced mechanically, hydraulically, pneumatically or electromagnetically against both sides of the disc to stop the wheel. Here, the 3D model of aircraft disc brake was created by using CATIAV5R20 with particular dimensions. The structural and thermal analysis of aircraft disc brake was done in ANSYS 14.5.The materials used for aircraft disc brake are aluminium metal matrix, ceramic coating and GLARE. The main aim of this project is validate the mathematieal result with ansys results. The maximum stress developed is 26.87MPa for aluminium metal matrix composite (AMMC), 21.47MPa for ceramic coated.
