The findings from this study support the need for early educational intervention with hypertensive clients. In addition, it notes the issues of trust between AA hypertensive women and their healthcare provider. A psychological empowerment intervention was utilized in order to improve health outcomes for AA women with hypertension. More primary intervention is needed in order to reduce the incidence of this chronic condition. Nurses can play an invaluable role in the empowerment of hypertensive clients so they can assume an active role in the self-management and reduced incidence of the complications associated with hypertension.
