Polygyny, commonly called polygamy, has been one of the main obstacles to evangelisation in Africa. After Vatican II many theologians began to question the traditional church policy towards polygamists and their wives who, after receiving the faith, asked for baptism. In the concluding chapter, a solution is offered to polysex, according to which the polygamist, after baptism, becomes a special kind of monogamist.

Autorenporträt
The Author: Engelbert N. Kofon was born in Nkor, Cameroon. After studying philosophy at the Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu-Nigeria, he went to Rome for the Licentiate in Theology at the Pontifical Urban University, Rome. In 1974 he obtained the doctorate in Moral Theology at the Academia Alfonsiana. For fifteen years he taught Moral Theology at St Thomas Aquinas' Major Seminary, Bambui, in Cameroon.
