Earl Hinz has been sailing Pacific Ocean waters since 1958, accumulating over 40,000 sea miles in racing and cruising boats. After retiring from the aerospace industry as an engineer, he became technical editor at SEA magazine, conducting sea trials on over 100 sail and power boats. He has owned a variety of boats and has lived aboard for 15 years.
