Human resource management (HRM) is the field of management that has attracted the attention of many scholars, authors, practitioners and management experts in recent times. The study of human resource management practices has been an important and critical area in management and organizational performance for past several years. This is as a result of the recognition that human resource is an intangible asset that holds the key to organizational success. Every business firm requires the combination of factors of production, via, financial, physical and labor (human resource) for its success and survival. Among these resources, human resource (the people) is the one resource which for decades has been recognized as an important source of competitive advantage for the firm (Barney, 1991; Pfeffer, 1994). Every organization whether it is public, private or NGO must operate with and through people.
