Green practices in shipping sector (GSPs) are becoming more essential as the policies of European Commission become stricter with emphasis on eco-friendly philosophy. With regards to the ocean carriers, the high environmental performance is a catalytic factor for improved financial performance. There is a link between financial and environmental performance, which leads to a competitive advantage over competitors. Despite previous studies offered research knowledge based on empirical case studies in Asian region only, their research was limited to the measurement of environmental performance and they did not focus on the economic and social imperatives that are in contradiction with stakeholders' interests that both are emerging issues in shipping industry.The study is conducted in to the Shipping Network of one of the major global Liner companies operating in Greece.Findings includes the interrelationship between the two types of performance of the SN is proportional and confirms the literature review.Future research might look for the for the quantitative perspective of the dimensions of GSPs within a SN, and their progress throughout the years in other territories in EU region.
