Violence against women has been acknowledged worldwide as a violation of basic human rights. In Egypt, according to Egypt Demographic and Health Survey 2005, almost half of ever-married women in the reproductive ages have experienced violence. Women who reported physical or sexual violence by a partner were also more likely to report having had at least one induced abortion or miscarriage than those who did not report violence. This study aimed to greatly expand the available information of the 2005 about the risk factors of domestic violence and the association between intimate partner violence and reproductive health, which is currently lacking, and can be used to advocate for improved programmatic and policy efforts to address the problem.
