The significant increase in the use of CT has raised concerns about patient radiation exposure and the consequent increased risk of malignancy later in life. The lifetime risk for cancer has been shown to be greater the younger the patient is at the time of exposure. This is due to pediatric tissues that are more radiosensitive and the expected life-time with the risk of developing a radiation-induced effect is longer. The CT head scan for children has become more important in recent years in the diagnosis of complications and pathologies that are difficult to identify clinically or through other modalities. The CT is being used more actively in Sudan in last years, which plays an important role in the diagnosis of more difficult cases which appear so excessively.
