This is a story of love and hate. It is to love what God loves and to hate what He hates. It begins with Elaine's first recollections as a four-year-old child building and decorating castles and drawing her sums and letters in the sand. As an abused child, she finds refuge in a bathtub where she learns about Jesus from a nice nurse, and decades later when she meets Him at the fridge. In between those years, she struggles to reconcile her cruel father with that of a loving Father Who would send His Son to die on a cruel Cross. It finishes with her final reflections of God's grace that point to the testimony of Jesus Who was scarred so that she, and so may we, have Life and have it to the full. Elaine Florence Ross was inspired to write her story to encourage children and adults bearing the scars of physical, emotional, and verbal abuse to seek out someone who will listen - really listen - to their story and believe them. Most importantly, to point them to the Listener of all listeners, Jesus Christ, the One Who says, "Come to Me" to overcome any problem. In Him, by God's promises and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we find comfort and peace that He alone gives.
