Run Fast, Keep Low is something soldiers say to each other before they go on tour. It was also my prayer for my son every time he was deployed. My son suffered a seizure while on active duty in Afghanistan in 2009. He never fully recovered and was medically discharged from the army in 2011. We were advised his seizure was caused by the combat stress of completing 3 overseas tours in 3 years. He served in Iraq in 2007 and in Kosovo in 2008. He has since been diagnosed with ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, cognitive dysfunction and short term momory loss. I became his carer. Writing my thoughts as poetry helped me to cope with the changes to both our lives as I watched his transition from a raw recruit at 18, to a disabled war veteran at 22. We have had lots of help from various forces charities, including SSAFA and H4H. £2 from the sale of this book will be slit between these two charities.
