This book is based on a Masters degree thesis on perceptions of social workers' on juvenile crime prevention in Sweden. Interviews with six social workers working with young offenders were conducted. The key finding of this study is that the juvenile justice system in Sweden is not working as it should and something need to be done to improve it . Social worker's identify societal strain, conflicting laws, lack of proper integration of immigrant youths and drug abuse problems as among obstacles to preventing juvenile crime. The author discusses the strategies needed to saving the young.
Autorenporträt
The author has a BA (Social Work) degree from the University of Nairobi (Kenya), a Masters degree in International Social Work from the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) and an MSW from Washington University in Saint Louis (US). He has worked with juvenile offenders as a Probation Officer in Kenya and with at-risk youth in Saint Louis (US).
