The role of Western media while constructing news about Islam and the Muslim world, has been a topic of interest for the media scholars, particularly, from last decade i-e after the 9/11 incident. Various new perspectives have come forward indicating role of Western media in the portrayal of Islam. This study has investigated the role of Western print media in portraying picture of Islam. This is a discourse analysis based research, the researcher has tried to explore the hidden policy of the Western media when it reports about Islam and Muslim world. Although many in depth studies have been done so far but this particular research is focused on how the image of Islam has been created and is being shaped. It also explored the use of 'naming choice' and 'lexical choices' while reporting about Islam and Muslim world. This book would be great topic of interest to the scholars who are interested to look into these new terms like Islamophobia and the phenomena involved to spread it. Researchers and students of Mass media and International relations would find it helpful to see the role of media in recent years to create global image of Islam and Muslim world.
