This is the first comprehensive volume on this topic since the 1920s and is lavishly illustrated with line drawings, black and white photographs, and distribution maps.

Prof. Dr. Fernando Zuloaga Degree in Botany and PhD in Natural Sciences, Botanical orientation, (UNLP, National University of La Plata, Argentina, 1974 and 1978). He was awarded fellowhisps from the Guggenheim (1990) and Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation (1991), Sous-Directeur, Associé Etranger, of the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Laboratoire de Phanerogamie, Paris, 12/1989-1/1990, among others. He focused his research on the taxonomy of grasses. Professor at the National University at La Plata, Argentina, 1995-2018. Senior Researcher at CONICET (PK). Director of the Darwinion Institute of Botany, 1998-2019. Director of the Plan Flora de Jujuy and Flora Argentina. He published more than 240 original works, including 22 books, among them the Catálogo de las Plantas Vasculares de la Argentina, Catálogo de las Plantas Vasculares del Cono Sur, and 16 volumes of Flora Argentina. Among his distinctions are: Senior Scientist of the Missouri Botanical Garden; Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Córdoba, 2002; Diploma of Merit Konex Foundation, for having been designated one of the five figures in Science and Technology in the discipline of Botany, Buenos Aires, 2003; Member of the National Academy of Science of Argentina, 2014; Member of the American Society of Plant Taxonomists, International Association of Plant Taxonomists and Corresponding Member of the Botanical Society of America.
