In vitro propagation is used specifically to refer to the application of tissue culture techniques to the regeneration and propagation of plants from single cells, tissues and organs by culturing them under sterile and controlled environmental condition. It offers several distinct advantages that are not possible with the conventional propagation techniques. Among others, it enables multiplication of single explants in to several thousands of even some times millions of true-to-type plants in less than a year, without affecting the growth and/or productivity of the mother plant. So that researchers, decision makers and planners can have a basic tool for multiplication of healthy planting materials for the research and productions.
