You placed the seeds of your love deep within me, and strong roots grew to completely wrap around my lonely soul ... You are the dazzling stars in my heaven, sweetheart, and the scenic river that nourishes a once-parched land that was the essence of my life. Floyd Myers and his wife, Margaret, have been blessed with a happy marriage that has flourished through six decades filled with ups and downs, challenges, and obstacles. Yet throughout all that life has placed in their way, they have not only continued their love for each other, but also nurtured it in a way that it continues to grow to this day. In a debut collection of poems, Myers chronologically shares verse that begins with their marriage in 1960 and continues through the following decades as they maintained a state of mutual adoration, built a family, and found hope and humor even in their darkest moments. As he lyrically reflects on their life experiences and emotions, Myers reminds others that love is a generous and healing gift from God that can never be purchased or pretended and will only be fully alive when permanently given away with a commitment to each other. Heartbeats is a volume of poetry that explores sixty-plus years of life experiences, faith, and unconditional love.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
Floyd E. Myers was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 17, 1937, Saint Patrick's Day. Early on, his childhood tutelage was that expected with a broken home and absent mother or father. Relatives stepped in, providing support and guidance for several years, until the mother returned and moved him to Texas. The family, with a new stepfather, inhabited what could best be described as a home with many deficiencies, like electricity, paint, and other structural issues. Even so, it sat on ten acres of farmland soon put to its best potential. Pleasure was elusive and not realized at this time, but the farm provided, and some portion of happiness prevailed. At seventeen years of age, his vision was to achieve greater knowledge and gain insight toward that goal. So he enlisted in the US Air Force for four years, the last three at Erding, Bavaria, Air Force Base in Germany, soaking up an enormous European culture and the discipline to move forward in life. His unvarnished youth produced a small benefit to the air force, a life-changing emergence to a better-educated young man. The missing portion of parenting was filled in. Back home and alone, he soon met the lady who would become Margaret Myers, a tutor in and of herself and the women he will idolize for all the rest of his life. A life together began, and as time passed, four children joined them along the way, each to the great joy of their parents. After a short stay with General Electric, his professional career turned to a twenty-year experience with an insurance claims company. That stint saw him rise to a position managing operations in eight states. From that platform, he created his own corporation in Texas, which would become the catalyst for nine more over the years. Those would involve successful corporations in virtual reality construction software, forensic engineering, fraud and arson investigations, and a mix of firms dedicated to catastrophe business. All but one firm eventually operated on a national scale, and the fruits they produced made retirement pleasant.
