Álvaro García Linera, (b. 1962) became Bolivia's vice-president when Evo Morales was elected president on the Movement for Socialism program in 2005. Born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, he studied in Mexico City. After being imprisoned for radical political activity, he worked as a university professor and political analyst, and has been outspoken in defense of indigenous and gender rights. Pablo Stefanoni is an Argentine journalist, economist and social researcher. He co-authored La revolución de Evo Morales, de la coca al Palacio (2006). Franklin Ramírez is an Ecuadoran sociologist and profesor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Ecuador. His other books incluye La estampida migratoria ecuatoriana. Crisis, redes transnacionales y repertorios de acción migratoria (2005). Maristella Svampa is an Argentine sociologist and associate professor at the Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento. She has written another book on Bolivia that was published in 2008.
