The book focuses on the nature of instructional support HoDs provide to support Mathematics and Science teachers, though, most of them are not qualified. It is argued that by virtue of the perceived complexity of the learning areas of mathematics and science, HoDs with expertise and a wide repertoire of knowledge in the subject content, rather than mere teaching experience, are required. Without the essential expertise, knowledge and skills, it might be difficult for HoD to understand the methods used in Mathematics and Science so as to make their instructional support for teachers of these two learning areas effective
