Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by airflow limitation that is not fully reversible. It is a lifestyle related disease and the main risk factor is tobacco smoking. This book describes a cross-sectional study investigating the lifestyle characteristics of Japanese patients with COPD, including cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, dietary supplements intake, physical activity and urinary incontinence status. To maintain a healthy life and to achieve optimal outcomes during the pulmonary rehabilitation of COPD patients, lifestyle-related factors should be taken into consideration and health awareness programs should be promoted in conjunction with respiratory physicians and allied health professionals. This book will be of interest to public health researchers and anyone interested in undertaking COPD research.
