At the time of writing this book, Kori Mbula Odhiambo was a 16-year-old girl, looking to share a story. Kori wrote "Shades of Blonde(e) because she was inspired by Frank Ocean's album, and wanted to help other teenagers find hope and encourage them to not give up on life just yet, as there is much ahead of them. She also really wants a guitar.
