Welcome to El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Population 3,021.It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it doesn't take long-any time at all, really-to realize there's much more than meets the eye. That's how Molly McCarty feels, anyway. After deciding she's had enough of the big-city life as a politician's wife in Washington, Molly moves back to her hometown and buys the abandoned Serenity Farm. Molly acclimates herself to life in a small town with the help of her best friend, Jennifer Papula, who is only too happy to share the town's most recent juicy gossip. For one thing, there's Jerry Ray Turner, the town's best mechanic, who came out of the closet as a cross-dresser. And then there's crazy old Ollie Griffin, still living inside his '69 Thunderbird and occasionally showering in the park's fountain. But the biggest uproar is Roy Bob Benson, who is trying to buy the old Hacker's Jewelry building and turn it into a "girly" bar. That's just the beginning of the news, and as Molly tries to help the newly formed revitalization committee think of a way to stop Roy Bob, a vandal threatens the town's sense of security. Who is doing this and why? Full of wit, intrigue, and a cast of memorable characters, The Hillbilly Debutante Café is sure to keep you coming back time and time again!Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
Kathie Truitt grew up in the tiny Ozarks town of El Dorado Springs, Missouri. She started her writing career as soon as she could form sentences, spending hours journaling stories in the Big Chief tablet provided her grandmother. By 6th grade she was writing and producing plays for her class. After graduation she attended Missouri State University-for about 2 minutes - before running off and marrying her high school sweetheart. Kathie thought they'd settle down in El Dorado Springs, raising farm animals and babies, but instead travelled the world living in Texas, Mississippi, England, back to Missouri, then to Washington DC area and finally - BACK to Texas. She spent over 20 years as a radio personality and when her show first became an Arbitron-rated number 1 show she publicly thanked her teachers that said she'd 'never amount to hill o' beans because she couldn't shut up in class.' In 1996 she received the honor of being crowned Mrs. Missouri-in which afterward she promptly went up to her hotel room and changed a dirty diaper. One spring day in 2001, Kathie's husband Jay announced he'd accepted a position on the East Coast and a few weeks later, he dragged her kicking and screaming to that den of iniquity some call Washington, D.C. Those first few years were more than rough when the Truitt's moved to their neighborhood. After being the victim of a crazy neighbor lady that stalked them for 4 years, they were forced to move to another county for their safety. This was the basis for Kathie's first novel, "False Victim" in which she not only sold the movie rights, but it was also a featured segment on Investigation Discovery. Kathie's second book "The Hillbilly Debutante Cafe" is a much lighter, more fun novel that one critic describes as a 'mixture of Fried Green Tomatoes meet Steel Magnolia's with My Name is Earl sprinkled on top.' On June7th, 2014, when her last child graduated from high school, Kathie threw a few clothes in the front seat of her car, . loaded up her best friend and black lab Sally, slipped in a Merle Haggard CD and off she drove into the sunset to pursue her life and dreams in Rowlett, Texas.
