Kathy trained in Manchester and Southampton as a teacher of Art and Design, but after several years in secondary and further education went on to takes the Diploma in Architectural Conservation at the University of York. After a long association with the Civic Trust and its associated societies, Kathy is now a Council Member of the Ancient Monuments Society. Although having lived and worked in many parts of the country, Rawtenstall has always been home. All of the places in this book are known personally and many of the photographs taken by Kathy herself. These, with a selection of pictures from a variety of local archives and private collections, show the changes brought about by both local and national demands on this small corner of Lancashire.
