Autorenporträt
In 1997 Kay Spann Byrd received the call to the ministry of media. For the next three years, she did as many others have done-she ran away from the call. In 2001 God brought her run to a resounding halt. He answered all of her questions, placed before her everything she needed, and then asked her the question, "What's your excuse now?" Seven months later she produced a multicultural, interdenominational, international Christian women's magazine-Women's Ministries, Women of Power. Its first year netted more than five hundred subscribers from sixteen domestic states, South Africa, and Germany, along with a thirty-minute weekly radio program. Kay serves faithfully as an associate minister, and ordained evangelist under the pastorate of her sister, Elect Lady Gert S. Thompson, at the same church her father, the late Bishop Willie Spann, founded and pastored for forty years. He went home to be with the Lord in 1981. In 2001, Pastor Thompson became the first female pastor of Apostolic Temple Church, now named ATC Life Changing Ministries. Her mother, Mother Susan Spann, continues to serve faithfully under the leadership of her daughter. Kay is also a nationally published poet; she lives in Columbia, South Carolina.
