This book is on Market; a typical man-made feature that has undoubtedly contributed immensely to the development of mankind worldwide. This work has unequivocally shown that market centres perform economic, cultural, social and political functions in Nigeria. The study is a state-wide research which has identified major market centres in Osun State, Nigeria. The author has identified hierarchical order of the market centres in the area as well as their intra and inter-relationship with the distinctive patronage levels. The findings reveal that distance, linkages and infrastructural facilities account for the locational attraction and patronage of market centres in the state. It was also discovered that political factor is another strong determinant of market locations in the area. With the list of goods and services in each of the major market centres in the state vis-à-vis the levels of patronage, the study has developed an inter-local government distance matrix based on direct motorable routes to estimate the approximate road interval between one market centre and others. The major recommendation in this book is the proposal for the development of nine model market centres.
