Kaitlyn Mamay is a dedicated first-grade elementary school teacher and a passionate advocate for literacy. Her journey to the classroom was profoundly shaped by her experience with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), which she was diagnosed with during her junior year of high school. Balancing hospital stays with her education, Kaitlyn also observed the difficulties younger pediatric patients faced as they transitioned between the hospital and the classroom. Despite these challenges, she completed her bachelor's degree in childhood education and students with disabilities and continued on to earn a master's degree in literacy. During her master's program, Kaitlyn drew on her personal experiences and the struggles of other children to write a children's book in hopes to support both teachers and students in navigating the reintegration process after a serious illness. Through her writing and teaching, Kaitlyn aims to foster understanding, resilience, and compassion in the classroom.
