Aliphatic polymers containing sulphur atoms in the main chain have wide biomedical applications. 1,4-dithiane-2,5-diol, the monomer with two sulphur atoms in the ring have been used to synthesis aliphatic random copolyesters by direct melt polycondensation method using various diols and diacids. The synthesis, characterisation the copolymers with dithiane in main chain are also demonstrated. Finally, the biomedical properties of the copolymers have been investigated to determine its specific applications in medical field.
