The study on digital lengths and their associations with other body traits has been a field of interest for the last few decades' due to its highly significant role in clinical practice and evolutionary biology. In human hand, index (2D) and ring (4D) digit lengths and their ratio (2D:4D) show sexual dimorphism as they correlate with prenatal testosterone and estrogen levels. The findings of this study can provide analytical data for the anatomists, anthropologists, clinicians, psychiatrists, forensic experts and surgeons in their respective fields with great practical applications. 2D, 4D lengths and their ratio can be used for the identification of age, sex and race. Different studies already showed it has clinical correlations with cardiovascular diseases, hormonal imbalance, musculoskeletal disorders, psycho-sexual disorders, autism, infertility or even carcinoma. Orthopedic or plastic surgeons can use the 2D, 4D concept for successful hand reconstructive surgery. Consideringthese clinical significance, this baseline study has been conducted to identify the dimorphic nature of 2D, 4D and 2D:4D and also their correlations with height, weight and BMI in Bangladeshi population.
