Thamalakane River is one of the breath-taking and magnificent sceneries in the Okavango Delta, northern Botswana, with an amazing setting of a river associated with different aquatic plants, e.g. the spectacular floating blue water lily and floating heart, sedges and grasses, riparian woody species, e.g. majestic trees of real fan palm, sycamore fig, raintree and umbrella thorn as well as hippopotamuses, crocodiles and fishes jumping up and down. The objective of this book was, therefore, to compile the available information on the tree species growing along Thamalakane River so that the targeted group can learn more about the resources when traveling along the walkways of the river. Thirty seven woody species representing 16 plant families and 26 genera were recorded. The book presents the scientific, family and common names (in different languages of Botswana, Afrikaans and English), botanical description, geographical distribution, various uses and photos of different parts ofeach woody species. The target groups for which the book was written include tourists, visitors, students, teachers, extension workers, scientists and non-scientists, researchers and the general public.
