Krushna Mohan Das was born in 1925 in the village of Chashikhand in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, India. During his high school days, he joined Mahatma Gandhi's Quit India movement and was imprisoned on 9th August 1942, the day following the arrest of Gandhiji in Pune. After passing the Matriculation examination from Patna University in First Division, he joined Bihar Veterinary College and received a degree in 1946 and became the Assistant Professor of Parasitology at the Veterinary College in Cuttack. In September 1958, he joined Cornell University and completed his MS and PhD. After working as an Associate Professor in Pathology in Alabama, he worked as a Veterinarian and Pathologist in various capacities in the U.S.A. He holds a variety of clinical, research, teaching and administrative positions in Veterinary Science in many Institutions in America. He worked for the Federal Govt. of the U.S.A. for six years before his retirement due to illness.He was one of the founding members of the Odisha Society of the Americas and the Odisha Society of the Americas New York chapter. He has set up a scholarship fund for the best graduates of the three Universities of Odisha - Utkal, Sambalpur and Berhampur which is still active. Also, he has set up an institution called Baisi Mouza College near his village Chashikhand which is a flourishing degree college providing education to innumerable young rural Indians.He died on December 6, 2000, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
