The fast-dissolving tablets permit the fastest bioavailability by disintegrating quickly within a few seconds when placed on the tongue. This fast disintegration is due to the presence of superdisintegrants which aids in the quick disintegration of the tablet promoting the bioavailability in less time with less concentration. Though there are many superdisintegrants available in the market, research is still going on in order to avail with required characteristics for formulating into fast-dissolving tablets. In the present book reveals starch valerate, a novel superdisintegrant that is prepared by modifying the starch, evaluated for its properties such that for application in the design of superdisintegrants.
