Recovery Road is first book in a series of a collection of poems written by a man who was overcome by the sin in his life who found redemption through God and His word. Harold Barkley invites you to share his experience through poems and travel with him along the Recovery Road as you explore the modern Christian life. Harold has dealt with the same trials, failures, and victories just as others have in their lifetimes, and he wants these poems to be encouragement to others who may be dealing with drug addiction, substance abuse, or other problems faced by many. After high school, Harold enlisted in the Marines. During his four years in the military, he began to slowly drift away from who he was. Over the next decade, he continued to wander aimlessly, and slowly his casual drug use raged and before long, he was a addicted to meth. It stole his career, family, and fifteen years of his life. In 2002, in the depth of his despair, he met some men who introduced him to the Lord. What followed is recorded for all to read in the pages of Recovery Road. As you will discover, God can take the worst of us and restore and renew all that the enemy has attempted to destroy. Harold currently serves as a Chaplain with the Association of Christian Alcohol and Drug Counselors and with the Gleaners at the Orange County Jail Facilities. Simply put, he says, "I am a sinner, saved by grace."
