Hugh Montefiore (1920-2005) taught as Vice-principal of Westcott House and in 1953 was elected Fellow and Dean of Gonville and Caius College. He became Canon Theologian of Coventry Cathedral in 1959, and in 1963 was invited to succeed Joseph Fison (who had been appointed Bishop of Salisbury) as Vicar of Great St. Mary's, Cambridge. In 1970 he was consecrated Suffragan Bishop of Kinston to work in the South London diocese. He retired as Bishop of Birmingham in 1987, having served in that position for 9 years. H. E. W. Turner was Van Mildert Professor of Divinity at the University of Durham, England. Among his works are: The Patristic Doctrine of Redemption, Jesus Master and Lord,and The Pattern of Christian Truth.
