I have always considered myself to be lucky. Not in the sense that I have ever won much, but in the sense that I was able to be born in a loving family and was able to have both the intelligence and health to work. I was brought up in a Christian environment, where faith played a role in the life of the family. I was also fortunate in that, when I married, I married a person of the same faith, so a common ground existed. Then, one day in May 2001 all the faith in my world would be tested, not only by me, but by everyone who knew me. A brain aneurysm struck as a silent demon, trying to wipe out my life, and change the lives of my family. To this day, I feel that first, faith, and then a push from the beyond were responsible for the outcome of what occurred to not be the tragedy it might have been, but to be turned around to be the miracle it became. The return to life has not always been easy. It has taken more hard work than ever imagined. However I am not afraid of hard work, and understand that often the results we aim for are not going to come quickly. My faith, determination and a positive attitude are my weapons and along with the armor of God, I won't fail. I am changed. I cannot do many things I once could. However, I have learned to sort out what is truly important. I have sharpened my values and defined my own line in the sand of what I will allow for myself. With the grace of God I go on, and that is good enough for me.
