database modeling and indexing. Chapter 2 presents
spatial database modeling and a selection of
approaches in that direction. Also chapter 3
introduces temporal database modeling and later
spatio-temporal modeling as a combination of spatial
and temporal modeling. Chapter 4 discusses
approaches for indexing spatial data. Similarly,
chapter 5 adds a time dimension to spatial indexing
and presents approaches for spatio-temporal
indexing. Chapter 6 presents AIRSTD , a selected
approach for retrieving and indexing spatio-temporal
databases. In Chapter 6 we discuss a future view of
the famous Google Earth application as a real time
applicable example of all theoretical material
presented in this book. Finally, a brief overview
