All the recorded instances appear to be variations on the same theme, that is. mapping the landscape, producing ancestors enshrined in highly elaborate and labour-intensive monolith-circles, to support the living. Augustin F.C. Holl (PhD 1983, Sorbonne, Habilitation Doctorate 1994, Paris X-Nanterre). Professor at the University of California, San Diego, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, the university of Paris-Nanterre, Deputy director of the InSHS - CNRS, and professor at Xiamen University (China). He has published 12 books and numerous journals papers.
