The study was designed to evaluate the nutrient, anti-nutrient, and phytochemical composition of monkey kola as well as the varietal differences. Aside information on the nutrient composition of monkey kola, the study also has valuable information on the jam making properties, antioxidant content and acclivities of monkey kola and those of their products. Information from this work will be relevant for database food compilers, food manufacturers, and also dieticians. The rich micro-nutrients and bio-active potentials of monkey kola (Cola parchycarpa, Cola lepidota) makes it an interesting fruit that could be incorporated in therapeutic diets.
