But it becomes an issue for most of the Indian students to qualify themselves in the international standardized tests like GRE, GMAT, TOFL, IELTS as it is the mandatory to get admission into the universities in English speaking countries such as UK, USA, Canada and so on. Standardized tests like these check students' skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing of English language. The present study is an attempt to study the listening comprehension proficiency level of the third year engineering students in IELTS Listening test. The main objective of the present study is to test and improve the listening comprehension proficiency level of the third year engineering students at KL University, Vijayawada. In order to investigate the performance of the students in listening comprehension, different listening strategies are discussed to get insight into the area and to find out how far the students are able to use these strategies in their listening test to answer the questions given in the test.

Dr. Indira Devi Pitta, born in 1968, was post graduated in English Literature and Language from Acharya Nagarjuna University,AP. India. Obtained M.Phil degree in English Language Teaching (ELT) from ANU in 2008, awarded her Ph.D degree from ANU in 2018 for doing research on Listening comprehension proficiency level of Engineering students in IELTS.
