d-block metal complexes of methionine and leucine have been developed with the goal of providing information about the metal-ligand bonding modes of the complex compounds of the amino acids with some metal(II) species. The text also attempts to provide information about the solid state structure of the complexes and the ligand field strength of the amino acids. The antimicrobial potency of the metal complexes have also been established and well discussed. The intent is to familiarize the reader with the synthetic skill, structural information, classical and spectroscopic methods of analysis used for characterization of the metal complexes.
