Do what you can with what you've got. This wonderfully forward-thinking book explores simple ways readers can make small positive changes for animals in their own backyard and surrounds. Most people want to help animals that are in trouble but have no idea where to start and little time, resources and patience. The sheer number of dogs and cats in shelters is distressing. Wildlife runs lost and tormented through unfamiliar territories. Birds, amphibians and snakes are battling overwhelming odds for survival. Horses are sent to kill pens, baby fawns and birds are kidnapped, bears and coyotes are being forced out of their habitats. This book provides clear, concise and easy advice from hundreds of in-person interviews and years of outreach with the people who are doing the hard work in animal shelters, wildlife rehab facilities, and boots on the ground conservationists. No grand gestures are needed! A few thoughtful actions can lead you down a path of transformation in an animal's life, and indeed your own too. The authors are forward thinkers who shine light into dark spaces to motivate and inspire those around them. If you share a passion or simply have a desire to cultivate knowledge about ways to help animals, whether it be baby birds, or dogs in shelters, this book will guide you on that journey. It is a wonderful resource for everyone to connect and coexist with animals of all kinds.
