Over the past decade there has been an explosion of interest in conceptualizing, developing and assessing the impact of quality life on oral health. Hence, this study aimed to assess the impact of Denture status, Demographic factors on oral health related quality of life in Rural (RangaReddy) and Urban (Hyderabad)(India) individuals of age 40-70 years , utilizing the oral health related quality of life instrument Oral Health Impact Profile-21.The results of the study showed that tooth loss and the number of missing teeth significantly affects the oral health related quality of life of elderly individuals and also that wearing dentures could improve quality of life of these individuals. As tooth loss emerged as one of the strongest predictor of oral health related quality of life, it is important to educate the public importance of preserving the natural teeth and a functional dentition throughout life. It is well known that elderly individuals have limited access to oral health care. Therefore it is necessary to provide these individuals with affordable oral health care in order to prevent and control oral diseases that compromise their quality of life.
