It is primarily intended as a textbook for an introductory course of mathematical economics for the students of economic-oriented master programmes. It assumes basic prerequisite knowledge of business mathematics on bachelor level. The style of writing is informal and the book contains a large number of worked examples, some of them illustrating the history of fruitful symbiosis of mathematics and economics. Ivan Meznik is a professor of Mathematics at Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Business and Management, Czech Republic. He received his Ph.D. degree from Czechoslovak Academy of Science Prague in Theoretical Cybernetics. He published several books, textbooks and more than 35 papers in recognized journals on discrete and applied mathematics
