Autorenporträt

James Michael Townsend lives in Houston, Texas. He is the husband of a brilliant woman who sits over his shoulder and makes his writing funnier. They have two children with whom he shares a quest for the perfect cheeseburger and a fondness for swear words.

When not encouraging existential angst in kindergarteners and subversive crayon usage in teenagers, he strums, scribbles, mutters dirty limericks under his breath, and turns medical bills into origami swans. He has been a filmmaker, a teacher, a fundraiser, a reporter, a public relations specialist, an events coordinator, a cashier, a receptionist, a layer of sod, a wrangler of sheep and geese, and for seven dollars an hour he used to describe X-rated magazines to a blind magician. He holds his MFA in Film and TV Production from the University of Southern California and was voted "most likely to succeed" in an 8th grade class positively teeming with underachievers.
